United Ways of Texas (UWT) works daily to encourage, strengthen, and highlight the great work that is happening through local United Ways in communities across the great state of Texas. UWT believes that as a system of strong United Ways we can achieve lasting change in Texas communities, and this is what brings great passion to our work.
UWT is the voluntary state association of local United Way organizations in Texas, and we are proud to represent and partner with United Ways in Texas. Our members are the key drivers of our work and are at the forefront of everything we do at UWT. The work we do for our members with our partners is how we are able to achieve our overall mission to make Texas a better place to live and do business.
As a charitable nonprofit, UWT fully embraces the principles of accountability and transparency as a matter of ethical leadership, as well as fulfilling legal obligations. We strive to be fully transparent to all stakeholders and therefore we are pleased to share our latest IRS Form 990.
Likewise, at the local level United Ways represent the diversity of each of their own communities. As a network, United Ways in our state are reflective of the diversity of our great state. As a result, the Board of Directors and staff of United Ways of Texas is also representative of our diverse state. We represent small and large, urban and rural communities. We also represent a diversity of business and industry sectors, and a range of political perspectives.
We strive to be inclusive of all voices in our state, respecting the characteristics, realities, backgrounds, and perspectives of each individual and each community. We believe that by focusing on diversity and inclusion we are acting and thinking outwardly so that we can in turn do our best to effectively address issues throughout communities in Texas. We also know that while our communities are diverse, we share many common challenges and issues, so we know that our voices are stronger together.

The word “United” in our name of United Way means many things to many people. At United Ways of Texas (UWT), we believe that to truly “Live United”, our communities must come together, and in doing so we achieve more than any one of us can accomplish in isolation. As Texans, we are better when we work together to confront our toughest community challenges, rather than letting obstacles and differences divide us.
As a membership organization, UWT leads and supports our diverse network of United Ways across the state as they tackle complex, local issues. Texas United Ways bring their community’s human capital and financial resources together to promote the well-being of all Texans, especially those that have been disproportionally and historically underserved, marginalized, and overlooked. United Ways of Texas is committed to supporting the innovative work of our members and will continue striving toward a vision of being united for a future where ALL Texans thrive.
